Grounding Beliefs
At Sea Islands Heritage Academy we live by our Grounding Beliefs in order to empower and prepare all scholars to recognize the fullness of their identity to determine, pursue, and succeed the future of their choice. Those Grounding Beliefs are :

2. We believe that every scholar has the right to a high quality, rigorous educational experience through consistent support.

4. We believe in the strength of heritage to empower a community. We believe that the land is our legacy and we have the right to sustain economically from it

1. We believe you must know who you are to know where you are going.
We believe that knowledge of self is the primary source of a fulfilled life. Aligned to our mission’s intent of developing the of scholars’ identity, we empower students to know themselves and heritage deeply, through intentional design and programming. Through designing and working alongside the fullness community, we contextualize scholars’ learning. We prepare scholars’ hands with the skills they need to determine, pursue, and succeed the
future of their choice.
2. We believe that every scholar has the right to a high quality, rigorous educational experience through consistent support.
We believe all scholars have the right to develop their deep thinking skills guided by the quality of their educational experience. To pursue this goal, we believe in beginning with data. Educators are deeply committed to knowing where scholars are academically and designing questioning and learning activities that push challenge scholars.
3. We believe that families are our most important partners to scholar success.
At Heritage Academy, we honor the gifts provided by the Gullah Geechee Heritage Corridor. Most importantly, our families. We believe that families are the experts on our scholars, and through consistent, honest partnership our scholars can achieve maximum success.
4. We believe in the strength of heritage to empower a community. We believe that the land is our legacy and we have the right to sustain economically from it.
In alignment to our mission, we honor the gifts provided by the Gullah Geechee
Heritage Corridor, most importantly, our families. At Heritage Academy, every
community member is expected to take asset-based approach to family engagement. We believe that families are the experts on our scholars, and through consistent, honest partnership our scholars can achieve maximum success. We believe that partnership must begin in the school design process and has consistent family input.
